About

Kelly Styne

Kelly is an LA based abstract and pop artist. Through her work with acrylic and mixed media on canvas, Kelly marries a fusion of order and chaos, boldness and subtlety — all with an underlying graceful tension that is representative of her personal style.

Kelly’s work oscillates between abstract artists such as Gerard Richter and the sublimely layered color fields of Mark Rothko. Her textual paintings are bright and often humorous renderings, reminiscent of Ed Ruscha’s work with a twist. Kelly’s paintings are distinguished and brought to life by her clever and evocative titles (e.g, “Chicken Enchilada”,  “Skinny Dip”, “Cry Baby”…).

Kelly was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and her midwestern heart and sense of humor are reflected in her work. Kelly’s career has spanned multiple creative industries, including film, design, editorial and fashion. Kelly serves on the board of the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA and uses her pop textual art to spark positive conversations about mental health and to share a message of positivity and humor.

Kelly is currently working on a collection of apparel and accessories featured at Kohl’s.
